Machine frame and slides The massive, heavily ribbed, rigid cast iron slant bed, of 'Torque tube' design with thermal stability analyzed through FEM (Finite Element Method), ensures high rigidity and chatter-free cutting. The ' box-type' slide ways are flame hardened and ground to precision.

Mating slide ways are coated with 'Turcite B', a hard wearing, low friction fluorine plastic, which increases the slide life and carries the lubrication oil ways. This is hand scraped for elimination of axis distortion to provide high accuracy and repeatability and the elimination of 'stick' motion.
